چکیده

Callosobruchus maculatus (Fab.) (C. maculatus) is one of the major pests legume seeds in storage causing significant damage, leading to food insecurity and low income for farmers. This work was planned develop eco-friendly agents from essential oils Artemisia herba alba Asso. (AEO), Maticaria Recutita L. (MEO), Dittrichia Viscosa (DEO) control C. maculatus. To achieve this goal, (EOs) were extracted by hydro-distillation using Clevenger apparatus before being characterized GC-MS. EOs used testing purposes three different tests, namely, inhalation toxicity, contact repellency tests. GC-MS analysis showed presence 16 potentially active compounds AEO 38 MEO, whilst 15 identified DEO. higher thujone (57.6%) chrysanthenone (11.8%). Santolina alcohol (40.7%) germacrene D (8.9%) whereas isocostic acid (72.3%) chief compound The obtained findings that studied considerable insecticidal activity against with a lethal dose (LC50) 3.78, 8.86, 14.34 ?L/1 liter air AEO, DEO, respectively. At 1 air, oviposition reduction rate 90.02%, 70.65%, 48.23% respectively, emergence 87.32%, 60.08%, 32.24% With increasing doses up 20 ?L/L, individual reached 98.8% 24 h after treatment. DEO repellent effects adults repulsion percentages 60.83%, 50.83%, 72.5%, outcome suggests plants, particularly oils, can constitute natural environmentally friendly alternative new bioinsecticides

Antibacterial and Antioxidant Activities of Essential Oils from Artemisia herba-alba Asso., Pelargonium capitatum × radens and Laurus nobilis L.

Essential oils are natural antimicrobials that have the potential to provide a safer alternative to synthetic antimicrobials currently used in the food industry. Therefore, the aim of this study was to evaluate the antimicrobial and antioxidant activities of essential oils from white wormwood, rose-scented geranium and bay laurel against Salmonella typhimurium and Escherichia coli O157:H7 on fr...

Asteraceae Artemisia campestris and Artemisia herba-alba Essential Oils Trigger Apoptosis and Cell Cycle Arrest in Leishmania infantum Promastigotes

We report the chemical composition and anti-Leishmania and antioxidant activity of Artemisia campestris L. and Artemisia herba-alba Asso. essential oils (EOs). Our results showed that these extracts exhibit different antioxidant activities according to the used assay. The radical scavenging effects determined by DPPH assay were of IC50 = 3.3 mg/mL and IC50 = 9.1 mg/mL for Artemisia campestris a...

Relaxant Effect of Essential Oil of Artemisia herba-alba Asso. on Rodent Jejunum Contractions

Artemisia herba-alba Asso. is a shrub commonly encountered in Morocco. It is used in traditional medicine for treating intestinal disorders. The essential oil extracted from the plant's aerial parts reversibly relaxed the spontaneous tonus of the rabbit jejunum in a reversible concentration dependent manner with an IC(50) value of 97.33 ± 2.59 ng/ml and reversed the tonic contraction of rat jej...

Terpenes from Artemisia herba-alba.

Chromatographic investigation of the methylene chloride/methanol extract of the aerial parts of Artemisia herba-alba afforded a new monoterpene dimer, in addition to a known monoterpene and three known sesquiterpene lactones. The structures of the compounds were determined by comprehensive NMR analyses, including DEPT, COSY, HMQC, HMBC, and HRMS.

Essential oil composition of Artemisia herba-alba from southern Tunisia.

The composition of the essential oil hydrodistilled from the aerial parts of 18 individual Artemisia herba-alba Asso. plants collected in southern Tunisia was determined by GC and GCMS analysis. The oil yield varied between 0.68% v/w and 1.93% v/w. One hundred components were identified, 21 of of which are reported for the first time in Artemisia herba-alba oil. The oil contained 10 components ...
